'Exploring the concept of intimacy and connectivity, Irish artist Kate McElroy uses the motif of hands to represent the human urge to connect and belong, but also to push away and protect. The field of vision is distorted as these photo - prints are used to evoke an ambiguous representation of something which is usually seen as a fixed presence in the human anatomy.'

'The Irish artist Kate Mcelroy has used the hand and the various functions it performs like giving, receiving, protecting and even pushing away. By using the hand gestures as a metaphor, she tries to play with our perceptions to see beneath the surface and reality.'
